Mizu Ledger Assurance House

Statutory Financial Statement Audit

Independent examination of annual financial statements under Japanese GAAP, culminating in a formal auditor’s opinion for boards, lenders, and statutory filing.

From ¥1,800,000

Auditor reviewing financial documents at a desk

Mizu Ledger Assurance House conducts statutory financial statement audits for mid-sized manufacturers, distributors, hospitality groups, and subsidiaries with overseas parents. The engagement is led by a named partner and a fieldwork manager who remain with your closing cycle rather than rotating through unfamiliar teams mid-year.

Who this engagement serves

Companies that must present audited accounts to shareholders, banks, or parent groups, and want an English-capable reporting line without losing the discipline of Japanese statutory practice. We work best with finance teams that can dedicate a liaison during inventory counts and confirmation follow-ups.

Scope and result

You receive an independent auditor’s opinion on whether the financial statements present fairly in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework. The accompanying management letter records control observations and proposed adjustments in language operations managers can act on — not only phrases written for other auditors.

Constraints

We do not act as your bookkeeper or prepare the statements under audit. If ledgers are incomplete at the start of fieldwork, the calendar extends; we will say so early rather than compress testing into an unsafe window.

  • Planning meeting and risk assessment tailored to your industry and entity structure
  • Substantive testing of material balances, including inventory observation where relevant
  • Bank, receivable, and legal confirmation coordination
  • Draft findings discussion with management before the opinion is finalised
  • Signed auditor’s report and a concise management letter
  • Bookkeeping, closing entries, or preparation of the financial statements themselves
  • Tax compliance filings or representation before tax authorities
  • Continuous internal audit secondment or permanent on-site staffing
  • Forensic investigation beyond ordinary audit procedures

From scoping to signed opinion

Scoping conversation

We review entity structure, prior-year adjustments, and filing deadlines to draft an engagement letter with a clear fee basis.

Planning and materiality

The engagement team sets materiality, identifies significant accounts, and agrees a fieldwork calendar with your accounting staff.

Fieldwork

Testing occurs on site where ledgers, inventories, and source documents live. Sampling plans are explained before document requests begin.

Reporting

We discuss proposed adjustments, issue the draft report, and deliver the signed opinion once remaining items are cleared.

Typically eight to fourteen weeks from signed engagement letter to opinion, depending on entity count and readiness of working papers.

On-site fieldwork in Kumamoto Prefecture and surrounding Kyushu cities, with remote review of supporting schedules when appropriate.

Provide trial balances, fixed-asset registers, bank reconciliations, inventory listings, and access to responsible accounting staff during agreed fieldwork weeks.

Request a scoping discussion so we can confirm whether a statutory audit, interim review, or control assessment fits your filing calendar.
